Wednesday Excursion

The morning session ends at 12.00 on Wednesday 28th August 1996and in the afternoon we have organised a visit to the region of Gruyère, which we thought might interest you. Buses will leave at 12.30 sharp. Delegates will receive a boxed lunch from the Penta in order to give more time for the trip. Dinner at the end of the day is included, which will be at the Château d'Oron. Return to the hotels is foreseen for about 24.00. The bus trip takes approximately 2 hours each way.

Please indicate your choice for one of the following activities on the form that you received with your invitation and return it to the Linac96 Secretariat, or indicate your choice on the electronic Registration Form or text version:

(Yellow) Easy-going: Walk from the village of Moléson: (about 5 km from Gruyères) on the "Sentier des Fromageries" (path of the cheese makers) through the woods to Pringy which is close to Gruyères (about 2 hours). Welcome drink and cheese tasting at Pringy cheese factory. Optional : visit of a Swiss chalet and of a 17th century cheese-making cottage.
(Blue) Leisure Programme : Visit of the old town of Gruyères: Its famous castle with an art exhibition; many small shops with regional products; visit of the cheese dairy with a demonstration of making Gruyère cheese, and a walk up to the ramparts of the town. Welcome drink and cheese tasting at Pringy cheese factory.
(Brown) Visit of the Nestlé chocolate factory in Broc: About 10 min. from Gruyères. With the projection of a film and tasting of specialities. Transfer by bus to Gruyères. Visit of the town and its castle. Welcome drink and cheese tasting at Pringy cheese factory.
(Green) Sports Programme in Moléson-Village :: Several activities will be available for individual fun : summer sledge, scooter driving on a ski-run, minigolf.
(Red) Programme for good mountain walkers :: 2 1/2 hr walk from the village of Moléson (1110m) to the top of the Moléson mountain (2002m). Welcome drink and cheese tasting at the top. Descent by cable-car.; Shorter version (1 1/2 hr) : Take the cable-car from the village of Moléson up to the half-way point of Plan Francey (1500 m). From there walk up to the top of the Moléson mountain. Welcome drink and cheese tasting. Descent by cable-car.
(White) Other option: Cable-car from the village of Moléson up to the top of the Moléson mountain. About 30 min. Welcome drink and cheese tasting at the top. Walk down to the village (1 hr 3/4).

NB Good walking shoes, wind-proof jacket and sun protection required if you choose red or white options.

The cost of the excursion, boxed lunch and dinner is included in the conference fee for delegates. The price for companions will be CHF 80. You should include the payment of your companion(s) ticket(s) with your registration.
